Holidays for the Troops

I forgot to mention what I saw on C-Span yesterday. The president met with bikers that drown out the "God hates fags" crowd. Fine and dandy, but he said there had to be more holidays for the troops. Alrighty...
There's memorial day, veterans day (why celebrate armistice day?), and armed services day. There's probably more, but these are just off the top of my head.
Don't forget about statist holidays either: "loyalty day" and "'peace officer' day"
How many about the consitution? One. No one celebrates. Hell, I had to look it up at Wikipedia! And while we're there...
Private businesses often observe only the "big six" holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).

Two out of six are dedicated to soldiers, one to the new year, one to work, one to our secession, one to the proto-americans, and one to Christianity.
I do think there needs to be more holidays dedicated to Leif Erikson though.

Edit: National Gold Star Mother's Day, National Korean War Veteran's Armistice Day, Pearl Harbor Rememberance Day (fo Pearl Harbor, but certainly turns into a day to those troops), and quite possibly National Defense Transporation Day (though I guess it could be defensive driving...I don't know)

In terms of weeks, we at least have a Consitution Week, but also a police week.
Months? Well, Steelmark month is so incredibly protectionist that I think my head exploded.

Edit again: I love Hawaii. They have a Fr. DamienDay

Holiday Tree

Just saw on Fox news that WI (I think) is having a debate on whether or not to call the tree in the State Capital a "Christmas Tree" or a "Holiday Tree".
Some lady said it can't be a Christmas tree because (paraphrasing) "Christmas...Christ's Mass!" I would reply (not paraphrasing, though I wouldn't censor myself) "Holiday...Holy Day...HOLY S---!"

Since Christmas is creeping eve so closely...

Christmas in Fallujah

"We are the armies of the empire, we are the legionnaires of Rome. It's Christmas in Fallujah and we ain't never comin' home!"
I think I figured out my next rotoscope project. I won't start today since I have some decorations to put up, but I will as soon as I wake up!

Thanksgiving-What was I thankful for?

I'd usually say bad food because without it there would be no thanksgiving, and without thanksgiving people would have to go to work and school!

What I learned this thanksgiving

I. Puritans weren't fundamentalists.
II. Alexander Hamilton was the first real conservative and Jefferson was the first liberal
III. Being an American is better than being a Catholic.

Now to explain-
I. On Fox, they were reporting on the Seattle schools reminding us that Indians (feather, not dot) mourn. More than when they find a sole piece of litter on the side of a highway. They also said that the site or pamphlet or whatever said that the pilgrims were fundies. Reported in a "yeah, right" tone. Anyone who says the puritans weren't fundies must be really messed up.
II. Well, I heard this yesterday and they were talking in terms of modern politics. Theres nothing liberal about paleoconservatism and paleolibertarianism!
III. This came from a report on an American becoming a Cardinal. Sorry, but that's not nearly as important as the Chaldean. I'm still betting that the Church in the US is going to split away. Patriotism is more important than the faith. Heck, American Catholics treat US soldiers as martyrs. The mixing of nationalism and religion is a dangerous thing.

Guy Fawkes Day

Holy smokes! So many donations to the Ron Paul campaign! I'm seeing it go up $500 or more at a time! Wow! Good job, guys! I'm pretty sure the one day donation record is going to be broken, if it isn't already.
I'm going to donate $17.93 cents one of these days. Vendee reference of course!
As for Guy Fawkes Day, I might blow up a speaker or cupcake or banana something with the word parliament on the side. Maybe not though. Long live the Pope, long live Guy Fawkes!

Columbus Day

Well, happy Columbus Day!
Why is it an Italian holiday though? I think it ought to be a Spanish Holiday. Yes, I'm Italian, and I'm probably a heretic in their eyes now! It's al cool, though. Maybe it's because I think Italy should have remained divided, maybe it's because I almost never have Spanish food. Maybe I just really like Ferdinand and Isabella!
Anyway, anyone know what tomorrow is? Leif Erikson Day! If I didn't shave yesterday, I would have painted my facial hair red and beat a drum all day.
